About 10cc
Well before the Manchester scene created such bands as the Joy division and the Stone Roses, 10cc represented the city its art-pop sound more in the spirit of Brian Wilson than Tony Wilson. Such doo wop satires as Donna in 1972 and Rubber Bullets, which reached the top of the charts in 1973, established the band members as leading musicians, active on different musical projects well into the 1980s after 10cc have already broke up.
